Sleepy Pit Bull Puts on Fancy Outfit for Gala But Ends Up Napping Like a Little Human

At the end of a formal event, it's not uncommon to see children sleeping soundly in their parents' arms. After a night of dancing, socializing, and eating, we all wish to drift into slumber. Apparently, our dogs feel the same way.

Despite being dressed up, the good boy dozed off by the time this famous musician performed. Watch him peacefully napping in this video shared on July 9:

I understand entirely, Cole (@colethedeafdog). Going to a big event can be exhausting! When you're done saying hello to your friends and the VIPs and have enjoyed a big meal, there isn't always a lot of energy left. But let's not forget that this therapy dog has a busy schedule. He's not lounging on a couch at home. He's out there working with his dad, providing comfort to children at school, regularly visiting the veterans' home, and spreading joy to everyone he meets. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that this good boy was snoring in his dad's arms when Michael Bolton hit the stage.

Hopefully, this star wasn't offended by having an audience member sleep through his performance. After all, Cole is deaf and wouldn't be able to hear him, anyway. However, the fact that he was resting his head on his dad's shoulder while he belted out "Somebody to Lean On" was perfectly fitting and may have taken away a bit of the spotlight. But if you're going to share it, who better to do it with than this exceptional pup?

Are White Dogs More Likely to Be Deaf?

They are! Dogs with merle coats, spots, or white fur/skin are more predisposed to congenital deafness. According to Wag, "The unpigmented skin in the inner ear causes the nerve endings to atrophy and die in a dog's first few weeks of life." However, not all dogs with white ears will be deaf, and not all deaf dogs will have white ears. Dogs can also be born deaf because of infections during pregnancy or medications given to the mother.

People were understanding of Cole's inability to stay awake. Viewer @luxetravelgal responded, "When you feel so safe in your Daddy's arms, of course you fall asleep." It's true. And @deafdogmafia pointed out, "Deaf Dogs are the most magical beings in the world. And when they sleep…the wonderful soft calmness that fills the room." That's easy to see here!

Although I usually prefer to stay home with my dogs, it sure looks like fun to attend an event with Cole and Michael Bolton. As a dog lover and a Connecticut native, I may have left the house for this evening.
