Pet Donkey With a Case of the Hiccups Has Everyone So Delighted
Have you ever seen a baby donkey with a case of the hiccups? If not, you're in for a treat! Our Simple Homestead posted a video at the end of June of their adorable pet donkey Cash, and it will make you smile. Dad's laughing in the video as he holds the very big baby because the little guy has the cutest hiccups that you've ever seen!
While the video is too cute, unfortunately we don't get to 'hear' the hiccups, we can only see them. I don't know why the family decided not to include the sound because that would've made the video even better. It's so funny because it seems that Cash is surprised after each hiccup!

I could watch the Cash's adorable hiccups all day! Our Simple Homestead's video was definitely a favorite on Instagram, and people left suggestions for helping to get rid of hiccups. One person recommended scaring him while another said to give him peanut butter. @wfo80 said simply, "He'll grow out of it." @turtlehippie68 pointed out, "Oh my goodness little Cash. Those are some BIG hiccups!" and @midelucia said what we were all thinking, "I. Need. A. Donkey!!!"

Why People Choose Donkeys as Pets
Donkeys may not seem like the first animal that you'd think of when you were considering a new pet, but they actually they make wonderful pets! Cash the baby donkey is lucky because he gets to live inside the house, and while I know I don't want a donkey living in my house, it's a fun thing to dream about. The first thing that popped into my head when I found out that Cash lived inside the house was where does he go to the bathroom and is he potty trained? According to several sites, donkeys can be potty trained...kind of. They are not as easy to house train as cats and dogs, but they can be taught to go in a designated area instead of just anywhere they please.
My parents and several friends have pet donkeys...that all live outside. Donkeys are intelligent and easily trainable (even though they're known to be stubborn). They are very gentle and affectionate and form strong bonds with their humans. They do well with children and several other animals. Of course, they do need room to run and play outside, and from other videos I know his parents take Cash out throughout the day to burn off his energy and give him time to run around.
One thing that might turn people off from having a donkey is how noisy they are. They bray like this little donkey who just found his voice and also make other noises like growls, grunts, squeals, and snorts. They make these sounds often and loudly, especially when they're hungry!
There are pros and cons to owning any pet. If you're considering bringing home a miniature donkey to keep on your farm (or in the house!), make sure to do your research to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly about the animal to see if its needs and requirements fit your family's lifestyle.
