Grandmother Has Family of Bobcat Babies Living Under Her Deck and It’s Too Cute

We've heard of people having cats or puppies living on their property, but bobcats — well, that's a new one. One woman was visiting her grandmother in Canada and found not just one, but a whole family of bobcats under the porch. Which is sort of scary. But it's hard to be worried when the bobcat babies look so cute.

This might just convince some people to try and get a pet bobcat. Although we'll warn you that they aren't as sweet as they look.

The clip that Soph shared shows the baby bobcats prowling around her grandmother's deck railing. They were so little! Honestly, if we didn't know they were going to grow up to be pretty ferocious we'd want one — ASAP. They look like little cats!

We weren't the only ones secretly pining for a bobcat kitten. The comments section was so obsessed with the little guys too. "My last words would be 'pss pss pss pss,'" joked one person. "And just like that, I'd have a pet bobcat," someone else teased. "That would be an indoor bobcat. Immediately," a third commenter shared. "I don’t have enough self control for this," chimed in another person.

Although another commenter made a very good point: "Cute, but my concern would be not knowing the location of a mother bobcat," they wrote.

Welp, have no fear because mom was there too. In a second video Soph shared online, it shows mom (whom they've since named Olive) with her two babies (whom they've since named Marty and Tini).

The clip shows all three animals relaxing in the backyard. It's almost like they don't realize they're chilling at Nana's house.

Are Bobcats a Threat to Humans?

In this case, Grandma is sort of lucky. Bobcats are usually pretty elusive and are nocturnal, so they don't really run into humans too often. But it does happen.

If you happen to see a bobcat out and about it's important to remember they're just as scared of us as we are of them. They may not immediately be aggressive, but if you want to train them to not come near humans try and make yourself big and scary. Raise your arms over your head, then make a loud noise while moving towards them. You can also spray water at their rears.

Never allow your domestic pets outside if there's a bobcat in the area. They prey on rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens, so you'll want to remove them from the area too.

There are lots of risks to being around a bobcat. But if you play it smart both you and the animal should leave the interaction a-okay.
