Bull Terrier Gets an Adorable Case of Zoomies After Getting in His Splash Pool

It's summertime, and we're all trying to stay cool and beat the heat by splashing around at the lake, in the pool, or even in the sprinklers. Harley the Staffordshire Terrier is also a fan of staying cool in the water but has a much cuter way of expressing how much they enjoy it than the rest of us do!

Harley's humans posted a video at the end of June of what happened when they set up Harley's splash pool for the summer. Not only does the dog love the water, but it also shows their joy by doing the one thing us humans love to see - they do the best zoomies around the yard to express their joy!

I think it's safe to say he loves it! Harley made me happy by just watching him be happy! And I wasn't alone - people got a kick out of Harley's zoomies and reaction to the little pool. @schmedes adivsed, 'Every day for 15-90 seconds you too can have this joy if you adopt a bully breed!" @seanathan_beanlord pointed out, "I think a lot of people underestimate the speed of Staffs, the density of their leg muscles and weight distribution makes them move like little rally cars!" But my favorite commenter asked simply, "Who pressed the 'start' button?"

Are American Staffordshire Terriers and Pit Bull Terriers the Same?

When I first watched this video, I immediately thought that the dog was some kind of terrier, and probably a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls get a bad rap, with many claiming them to be angry, aggressive, and dangerous dogs. Many moons ago, I had a Pit Bull, and she was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever had! Some commenters actually referred to Harley as a Pit Bull, so I thought I'd clear up some differences between the breeds.

A to Z Animals explains the main differences between the two as, "Size, color, temperament, and the shape of their face. Pitbulls are much larger and taller than Staffordshire Terriers. They also have a lean and muscular build and various colors and markings."

But their temperaments are also different, "Pitbulls are courageous but stubborn and have little tolerance for other animals. This is because they have frequently been used for dog fighting, so they are naturally more aggressive to other animals and have a high prey drive. This means that they often see cats, dogs, and other small animals as their prey and are more likely to be aggressive toward them."

Staffies are much more chill than Pit Bulls, "They are energetic and boisterous and love to play, yet are eager to please. They are sometimes nicknamed “nanny dogs” because of their patient and caring attitude towards children, Staffies tend to be well-behaved with dogs and other animals that they know but can be wary of dogs they don’t know. In these situations, they can attack if they feel as though they are threatened."

I'm a huge fan of Bull Terriers, but they are not for everyone. As with any pet, make sure to do your research before bringing one home to learn what's good and bad about them to determine if they'd make a good fit with your family or not.
